At 2151hrs., Charles County Volunteer Fire Units along with Prince Georges County and NDW-Indian Head were dispatched to the 2900 Block of Fern Hill Place for a House Fire. Charles County 911 received several calls stating that a House used as a Assisted Living Facility was on fire. Chief 12B (Sutter) arrived to find a 2 Story residence with fire through the roof. It took units on the scene approximately 40 Minutes to place the fire under control. All residence successfully escaped prior to the Fire Department's arrival. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Officer determined the cause of the fire was an unattended candle igniting combustible materials. There were 8 residences displaced and relocated to another facility. 1 Firefighter was treated and released for Minor Injuries.
