| More than 50 volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel from Bryans Road, Potomac Heights, Indian Head, Tenth District, Nanjemoy, and NDW Indian Head came together last evening for an important joint training exercise involving the Maryland State Police Aviation Command – Trooper 2.
The exercise focused on preparing our responders to safely and effectively work alongside aviation resources during emergency incidents.
Training included emergency flight operations and patient transport requirements, search-and-rescue capabilities, lifting and harness techniques, scene security, and emergency operations involving Trooper 2. Participants also practiced the critical coordination and communication required between fire, EMS, and aviation personnel during an emergency.
The crew of Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 provided valuable hands-on instruction and shared their knowledge and experience with our firefighters and EMTs, helping them better understand the aircraft’s capabilities, operational requirements, and the important role aviation resources play in emergency response.
Training together before an emergency happens helps ensure our responders are prepared to work together when our citizens need them most.
Thank you to the Trooper 2 crew for their time, professionalism, and continued partnership with the fire and EMS services of Charles County. And thank you to the more than 50 volunteers who gave up their evening to train, learn, and strengthen our emergency response capabilities.
